Chill Out Ice Tubs are built to last. We don’t want a leak in your tub or a horrendous power bill to put you off prioritising you! Our tubs are made from high quality marine, closed cell, high-density foam, making them incredibly well insulated. This is not your regular insulation foam, this is seriously structurally sound, waterproof and not cheap ha! We wanted minimum chiller work time and maximum energy efficiency. The thoughtful design of the lid also makes sure the cool stays in and the pests out while not in use. The entire tub is insulation.

FAQs

What temperature should my chiller be set to?

If you are new to plunging we recommend slowly decreasing the temperature over time. The most important thing here is your ability to develop a routine which means a gradual cool down of the tub as you build tolerance to it. My very first plunge was still the most uncomfortable and that was a balmy 11 degrees celcius. Most commercial chillers are set between 6-8 degrees Celsius. Our personal chiller is usually somewhere around the 4 degree mark, some days this feels incredibly cold, some days it doesn’t.

How long should I plunge for?

This is a personal preference and again something that can be built up over time. The science for the physical benefits isn’t actually that long or that cold but the mental benefits is a lot more of an open ended question. If the temperature is higher, you may want to plunge for longer. We usually stay in for 4-6 minutes. One of the most common guides is a minute for every degree. 2 minutes for 2 degrees, 3 for 3 etc. We have found that

How often do I need to replace the filter?

The filter should be replaced every few months, depending on use. You may notice a change in the water flow (the latest chillers have a flow meter on the screen) and pump audio pitch and this is usually a good indication that the filter should be changed. We recommend observing over time to get a feel for it.

Do I need to change the water?

For home use, a regular run cycle, a daily mop of the sides and a little bit of chlorine will keep your water crystal clear. We haven’t changed the water in about 1 year. Just keep it topped up.
Commercial use is obviously different because of the amount of people using the tub in a given day. You may end up changing the water several times a day.

Do you supply tubs for commercial use?

Of course! We have higher horse power chillers for commercial settings to enable water to cool down faster between uses. If you’re after a larger size tub to fit more people at a time, this can also be arranged.

Do you have a warranty on your tubs?

Chillers have a one year warranty and the tubs have a 5 year warranty. We have used all NZ available, durable and serviceable parts for the chiller connections. Our tubs are made to last, be used forever with no issue. That is part of the hand made, quality experience.

Care of Tub?

We recommend getting a tub specific mop to clean the walls and bottom of the tub with ease. I plunge in the middle of my work day and can’t say I’m ever particularly clean when I get in but a quick mop of the sides and bottom a few times a week does the trick. It helps to give it a mop when the chiller is running for the best filtration.
